Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will volunteers who mentor early-career researchers be eligible for travel grants?

APHRC will pair abstract submitters with mentors identified within its established networks. As such, this call does not offer a separate position for mentors to apply for, or for subsequent consideration and support to attend the symposium.

2. I would like to present a data-fitting method virtually. Is this option available?

The current arrangement is that accepted abstracts will be presented either orally (in person) or as poster presentations. No arrangements have been made for virtual or online presentations. However, we are exploring this option, and if presenters of selected abstracts can’t appear in person, virtual presentations may be considered.

3. Can I submit my proposal to APHRC for review before submitting it on the portal?

You may not submit a draft abstract for review before submitting your abstract. The mentorship program indicated is intended to take place after abstract acceptance and presentation at the symposium. The goal is to match abstract authors and eventual presenters with mentors who can guide them in developing their abstracts into full manuscripts for submission to a journal or a special issue. The mentorship or abstract review support is not intended to precede abstract submission and acceptance.

4. Does the 350-word limit include keywords, or is it only for the abstract?

The 350-word limit is separate from the title, presenter names, and keywords.

5. I just submitted an abstract for this symposium, but there was no option to apply for a travel grant. Will this option be available at a later date?

Limited travel grants will be offered to selected individuals whose abstracts are accepted following the review process.

6. I am interested in submitting an abstract for oral presentation but want to be sure whether it is specific to certain themes or is open to health-related research?

The call is specific to thematic tracks in the call for abstracts. You may submit abstracts that fall within one or more of the thematic tracks as either an oral or poster presentation. More information about the call can be found here.

7. The call indicates that travel grants will prioritize early-career researchers who are five to ten years post-PhD. I completed my PhD in June 2026 and am therefore less than one year post-PhD.

A postdoctoral period typically lasts two to five years and can start from 1 year immediately following PhD completion to five years. Therefore, an applicant is eligible to be considered for the travel grant as an early-career researcher.

8. Can I submit two abstracts to the AHDARS 2026?

Submitting two abstracts is acceptable only if one submits two distinct abstracts with different titles to two separate tracks. However you may need to register with another account to submit a second abstract for a separate track.
